I'm running Vista 5600. The icon for my HTML files where the IE logo, I wanted to change it the icon which displays the IE logo ontop of a document logo. I could not find any way of changing it in Vista as you where able to in previous versions, so I downloaded Iphile and tried to edit the filetype with that. Iphile tried to apply the change, but in Vista I now get the default empty document icon instead. Iphile insist I'm using the one I wanted to apply.

So my question in short is: how do I change the filetype icon in Vista?

hmm.... this is odd... I restarted Internet Explorer that was running and it claimed that it wasn't set as the default browser anymore. So I said yes to letting it be the default. Then all of the sudden the filetype icon for HTML files was correct. not quite sure what happended there...

STill would like a painless way of setting this.
