2a. Did the old version work?

3. Did the little thumbnail preview in control panel work?

4. Did the settings work when the screensaver is started by Windows? (Just clicking the Preview button in Control Panel doesn't count.)

5. If you're running Vista, do you have UAC on? The screensaver on Vista stores the settings in an xml file where the screensaver is located. Which means in the System32 folder, I'm wondering if that might make the UAC to kick in. I've not got around to test it yet. I might move it to the application settings folder instead.

Still use Winamp Pro. I tried Xion but couldn't tell any difference (audible) and I've got a lot of customization in Winamp.

I like the Godfather a lot better than MediaMonkey for file organization/management, although mainly I use it to rename files based on ID's also do some batch tag editing with it.

dBpower Amp for tags and converting. It hooks into Windows Explorer and gives you the entire ID tag info on mouseover/right-click. You can edit tags right in Explorer and convert damn near any format to any format. Basically WDDM drivers do not have 2D Hardware acceleration support.  So it is all being done by your cpu unlike on XP where the graphics card did it.

hopefully things will resolve when dreamscene is official, however long that will be

the only trouble i ever seem to experience from dreamscene is that sometimes it will crash and go blank, maybe a codec issue

seems alot are concerned with cpu usage i noticed when reading comments from user uploads at deskscapes dreams but i havnt found any situation where it causes performance loss.

for instance i ran the game elder scrolls IV oblivion with mods, max settings and benched using fraps with dreamscene on and off and its the same, i think dreamscene is automatically pausing itself when a game is played.

Yes, it turns out I hadn't rebooted yet, so the nvidia codec was ONLY being used for mpg2 playback in WMP11, while the MS codec was still being used for DreamScene.

Now that I have rebooted, the DreamScene playback is a wee bit choppy under the nvidia codec for me when I try and play both WMP and DreamScene MPG2's simultaneously.
